WHAT IS LIFT UP?

LIFT UP is an "Industry-Oriented Undergraduate Dissertation Program” that enables our young talents pursuing their undergraduate degrees to conduct their industry-oriented graduation projects at Turkish Aerospace. The support offered to graduation projects as part of the program, the industry consultants appointed among Turkish Aerospace engineers, and the opportunities to be offered throughout your project process contribute to your project and career path and get you ahead of the game.

LIFT UP+ is a “Master's and PhD Scientific Research Program” that enables master's and doctoral studies to be carried out in relation to the fields that Turkish Aerospace calls for. In this regard, it is aimed to conduct research and development studies on aerospace at universities and to provide the aerospace sector with qualified researchers. By submitting an application in an engineering discipline defined by Turkish Aerospace, approved researchers will be able to work with industry consultants who are experts in their domains. Researchers are also offered grants and the opportunity to work at Turkish Aerospace.

LIFT UP ++ is an "Industry-Focused Doctoral Research Program" that enables PhD research to be conducted in relation to the fields that Turkish Aerospace calls for. In this regard, it is aimed to conduct research and development studies on aerospace at universities and to provide the aerospace sector with qualified researchers. Grants are offered to researchers who have submitted and been accepted applications in various engineering disciplines defined by Turkish Aerospace.

LIFT UP OPPORTUNITIES

GRANT

A grant of TRY 10,000 is provided for equipment, software, service, consumables expenses, travel costs, and other expenses directly or indirectly related to the project.

INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT

Necessary support is provided for the equipment, supplies, consumables, software, services, and travel expenses required for your projects.

LETTER OF SUPPORT

A letter of support is prepared for students to apply for the TÜBİTAK-2209 B Undergraduate Research Projects Support Program for Industry.

GRANT

Grants of TRY 30,000 for master’s research projects and TRY 60,000 for PhD research projects are provided for equipment, supplies, service expenses.

SALARY

Researchers are paid the amount calculated as per the ratio of the minimum engineer salary to the number of days of attendance.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Researchers benefit from the general health insurance offered by our company.

CITY SHUTTLE

Researchers can use our city shuttles.

GRANT

During the PhD program (minimum 8 semesters, maximum 10 semesters), a grant equal to two times the minimum monthly wage is provided.

No. Project subject proposals are not accepted except for the published project subjects.
Students from all universities can apply.
As some projects are expected to utilize the infrastructure facilities of Turkish Aerospace offices located in the provinces specified, applications from universities in the relevant provinces are taken into consideration. Therefore, the relevant universities are given priority. If it is specified in the letter of intent that the relevant Turkish Aerospace office can be visited on a regular basis, then the industry consultant can evaluate the situation. Thus, there is no limitation in applying to the program.

Departments specified in the "Eligible Departments" are preferred initially. Additionally, students from the departments listed under "Other Relevant Departments" may also be taken into consideration because certain projects can be completed using an interdisciplinary approach. Students from departments that are not listed as "Eligible Departments" or "Other Related Departments" can also apply based on their prior studies, skills, accomplishments, and motivation, which should all be included in their letter of intent.
In addition to engineering departments, there are periodically open projects for International Relations, Business Administration, Technology and Information Management, Statistics, etc.
Applications can be made in July – August.
LIFT UP projects do not have to be linked to the graduation project. In this regard, LIFT UP projects can be carried out with the schedule and planning deemed appropriate by the academic advisor.
In order to achieve the project’s targeted outputs and make the project orientation process more efficient, it is recommended to start project work in the fall semester, and accordingly to apply for LIFT UP projects in the fall semester. The project topic that was intended to be applied for in the spring semester, however, may be selected and initiated by a different project team in the fall semester. It would be appropriate to discuss all relevant issues with the academic advisor.
The arithmetic average of the overall weighted GPA of the students in the project team must be 2.75 or higher.
Under the LIFT UP program, only senior (4th year) students can officially take part in the project team. However, you can support the efforts of the team working on the project with Turkish Aerospace by joining the project work packages during your junior year (3rd year).

It is possible to apply for multiple projects. It is recommended to apply for one or more projects that best fit the project team’s skillset.
A kick-off meeting is held with the participation of the academic advisor, students, and the industry consultant for applications that have been positively evaluated. In this meeting, the project scope, the methods to be followed in the project, the support to be provided by Turkish Aerospace, data sharing and similar issues are discussed in detail and the projects that both parties agree on are launched. It may thus be more appropriate to discuss the specifics at the relevant meeting according to the evaluation results.
Project start and end dates are suggested by the project team based on the academic calendars of the universities.
It is sufficient to submit applications electronically via the APPLY section on our website. Applications submitted electronically do not need to be accompanied by any further printed copies.
Student certificates and transcripts do not have to be wet signed. It is sufficient to upload the printouts obtained from the student information system to the application form.

The letter of intent should include information on the contributions to be made for the project to be applied, the planned activities, the project team's previous studies on the topic (articles, papers, patents, projects, prizes, competitions, etc.), and the project team’s purpose.

The letter of intent and CV should be written in Turkish if there are Turkish students in the project team, and in English if there are foreign students.
In some cases, the confirmation message may not reach the email account of the academic advisor for various reasons. It is recommended to use an alternative email address of the academic advisor in the application form and restart the process.
All applications that meet the application requirements listed on our website are evaluated based on a variety of factors, including the team's GPA, prior coursework related to the project, academic success in courses related to the project, issues specified in the letter of intent, and the criteria expected by the industry consultant.
The application results are announced to the project team after the preliminary evaluation of the Turkish Aerospace LIFT UP team and the technical assessment of the industry consultants. The application results announcement date varies depending on the intensity of the evaluating experts, and every attempt is made to disclose the results as soon as feasible.
Results of the evaluation, whether positive or negative, are emailed to the academic advisor and the students.
Depending on the nature and scope of the project, project activities may be carried out remotely and/or at Turkish Aerospace premises/offices. In cases where it is necessary to carry out project activities at Turkish Aerospace premises/offices, the frequency of visits is decided jointly by the industry consultants and the project team.
In cases where students need to visit Turkish Aerospace premises/offices, their visits can be planned by giving the required details for entry. In cases where students need to come to Turkish Aerospace premises/offices on a regular basis or irregularly as per the dates decided with the industry consultant, a "LIFT UP Student" entrance card is given if the necessary documents are provided in order to facilitate entry and exit.
If available, accommodation may be offered at the Turkish Aerospace Guest House.
If the industry consultant decides if it is appropriate to issue an entrance card for Turkish Aerospace premises/offices as part of the project activities, shuttles can be used with the relevant card.
Within the framework of the LIFT UP project, applications can be made to TÜBİTAK support programs. TÜBİTAK 2209-B Undergraduate Research Projects for Industry Support Program applications are supported by Turkish Aerospace, and the Letter of Support required for the application is provided to the students in line with the assessments of the industry consultant.
A grant of up to TRY 10,000 (excluding VAT), as deemed appropriate by the industry consultant, if there are expenditure items in the projects, based on the invoice issued by the university for the expenditure incurred, is provided. In this regard, the following items are supported.
• Equipment, supplies, software expenses
• Consumables expenses
• Expenses for services
• Travel costs
• Other expenses directly or indirectly related to the project
In order for the payments to be made, it is expected that the total project expenditure will be invoiced to Turkish Aerospace through the university's Technology Transfer Office (TTO) or Revolving Fund Department.
Payments are made within 10 to 15 business days after the invoice is received by Turkish Aerospace.
Grants can be obtained from TÜBİTAK and Turkish Aerospace at the same time.
For some project topics, multiple project teams can conduct a LIFT UP project, depending on the topic, scope, and availability of the industry consultant.
An Information Exchange and Confidentiality Agreement is signed between the parties if Turkish Aerospace information and data on the project subject need to be shared with the project team.
As a result of the project studies, a proceedings booklet is prepared and published on the LIFT UP website. Additionally, project outputs are encouraged to be published in national/international scientific events (congresses, symposiums, seminars, conferences, etc.) and in peer-reviewed journals.
Intellectual and industrial property rights that may arise within the framework of the project are managed by the contract to be signed between the parties.
If a reasoned justification of the change request is provided to the Turkish Aerospace LIFT UP team by the first/current academic advisor, it can be taken into consideration. The CV and transcript of the new student(s) to join the project must also be submitted.
It is inappropriate to take part in competitions that Turkish Aerospace supports/sponsors and/or participates as a jury with the outputs of LIFT UP projects.
Employment opportunities can be offered to students in the project team in accordance with Turkish Aerospace’s hiring criteria. During job interviews, it is recommended to bring up the LIFT UP project which was conducted with Turkish Aerospace.

Lift UP+ is a scientific research program where master's and PhD students can conduct their thesis studies and research on the topics specified by Turkish Aerospace.

Research assistants who have not yet submitted their thesis proposal can apply.
In accordance with the application criteria, an evaluation will be made in line with the CV, diploma, presentation on the subject applied, transcript, work package, projects, and patents, and researchers who are found eligible as per the application criteria will be asked to elaborate the project under certain topics. For master's and PhD theses, six-month progress reports and project activities will be monitored.
The researcher is required to come to Turkish Aerospace premises/offices for at least two days, which are jointly decided with the industry consultant depending on the project topic.
